POCO PLAYERS!

From Mrs. Erika:
Review Violin Hold (see if they can keep it up without their hand holding it). Try to keep it up for 2 Twinkle Variations
Arm Scrubs: Start from elbow and scrub down to the wrist “Dirty Doggy Scrub Scrub”
Review Bow Hold: the ring finger should touch the sticker I put on the frog, and the thumb should touch the metal of the frog. Make sure they are still making a circle with the middle fingers.
Once in a good bow hold, sing the Bow Song, and try to keep the good bow hold while moving around.
Shoulder Bowing: With a good bow hold, put the bow on the left shoulder. The elbow should be at a right angle, creating a “square” with the body.
Guide your students arm by gently supporting the right elbow (we don’t want it to drop) and moving the bow by holding the stick. Make sure you start from the “square” and open the elbow up. The bow should remain on the shoulder.
Use the Mississippi Hot Dog Rhythm. Try to do this at least 8 times in a row once you get the hang of it.
Optional: Your Turn My Turn: We did this a couple weeks ago, where we start putting the bow on the violin and helping them move it, and then letting them try on their own. Only attempt this if their violin and bow hold, and shoulder bowing are looking good.
Each and Every Ant: Work on including the singing with this. If possible try to get them to match the pitch of the strings.
