November 1, 2023 Homework Preludio

WELCOME PRELUDIO!

Listen to Twinkle Variation A and Theme Every Day!

Review and Refine: Review is very important for everyone ( I still check all of these things every day) but especially this age group. Don’t assume things will be correct today simply because they were correct yesterday.

Violin Hold: generally looking good but I have been seeing some pancake wrists, so watch out for this.
Bow Hold: Bent Pinky and Thumb. Super important! While they may be able to eek out sound with the thumb being locked out now, this will seriously inhibit their progress later when we are doing more advanced things.
A String Concerto: Use as a warm up into more difficult pieces. Focusing on rhythm, and keeping the bow parallel to the bridge. Practice with Accompaniment
E String Concerto: Use as a warm up into more difficult pieces. Focusing on rhythm, and keeping the bow parallel to the bridge. Practice with Accompaniment
Monkey Song: Practice with Pauses to put fingers down. Gradually shrink the pauses as they get better. Check the wrist (no pancake wrist!).
Twinkle: Focusing on recognizing the form, as well as the note each section starts with:
Twinkle Bread (starts on A)
Twinkle Peanut Butter (starts on E)
Twinkle Peanut Butter (starts on E)
Twinkle Bread (starts on A)
As with Monkey Song, practice with pauses to put fingers down and/or change strings, gradually shrink them as the student gets better.
Parents that are guiding fingers should be careful that the wrist stays straight (no “pizza man wrist” or “Pancake wrist”) and that the fingers are rounded, creating an arch shape.
