February 7 2024 Homework Accelerando

Welcome Accelerando!

1) Practice E minor Scale on the sheet I gave out in class. Please hold on to this sheet and bring it with you to class.
2)Hey Fiddle Fiddle:
-Low 2 on A and E for Violin/viola
-2nd finger instead of 3rd on A for Cello
Practice all. Say “rest” when you have them. You all are doing well playing the notes but the rhythms (especially rests) are where it doesn’t go as well.
3)Midnight Adventure:
1) Clapping with metronome for rhythm. Say rest when you have it.
2) Try the difficult rhythms on an open string with a metronome after you tried clapping
3) Finally try it with left hand notes
Practice 1-53 so it is very steady and rhythmic. If this is going well, look ahead to the other parts of the piece.
4) Finlandia: This one is a little easier for you all, so lets hold ourselves to a strict standard with our bow hold, instrument hold, and sound quality.
Everyone should have a bent thumb on the bow, and violins/violas need bent pinky on top of the stick of the bow
Country Wedding: If the other pieces are going well, we will add this, but please prioritize the other pieces as those will for sure be on the concert.

Everyone needs UniTunes Book 1, Carol Nunez, for their Instrument! Bring to class each week.

All of your pieces are uploaded on the website.  Please print out and put in your music folder.

Midnight Adventure
Hey Fiddle Fiddle:
Country Wedding: (scroll down to audio)
Play through any parts that are technically difficult. If you are not sure what this means, check the following parts:
-anything with a dotted rhythm or tied note
-anything with accidentals (sharps, flats or naturals not part of the key signature)
-anything with slurs
-anything requiring 4th finger for violins/violas and extensions (high 2) for cello and bass
-anything with tricky rests and counting (like Midnight adventure)
