Refine bow holds, don’t let them start straightening their thumbs.
E and A String Concerto: Focusing on a good bow hold and straight bow, and steady rhythm
Monkey Song: Straight wrist and good intonation
Twinkle MHD: Looking to get this more steady and fluid. I am still seeing some hesitating and creative rhythms every once in a while
Twinkle Theme: Focusing on Fast vs Slow bows and beautiful sound.
If the sound is off, check the following:
-bow is tracking parallel to bridge
-bow is between fingerboard and bridge
-bow hold is good
-there is not too little or too much weight
-they are not using too much or too little bow (more common that it is too little bow)
-both shoulders are relaxed

Parents that are guiding fingers should be careful that the wrist stays straight (no “pizza man wrist” or “Pancake wrist”) and that the fingers are rounded, creating an arch shape.
