August 13, 2025 Homework Accelerando

Welcome Accelerando!

Accelerando: Should be spending at least 15-20 minutes a day on practice for this class
Listen to all the pieces. This counts as practice!
1) D Scale with Mississippi Hot Dog Rhythm
Double check violin/viola holds (keep out to the side, hold with your head. Violin/viola should be flat and not tilted up or down)
2) Red Finger pattern ( I am attaching a scan that has it laid out for all instruments. Cellos and basses use the non shifting one for now)
Practice red patten (1,2,3, and 4) on all strings for violin and viola with mississippi hot dog like we did in class.
Cellos and basses: On every string except your highest string with mississippi hot dog (like we did in class)
3) Burst: Have measures 1-17 beautiful and up to tempo. Have the rest of the piece in your fingers (ok if not up to tempo, but make sure you look at all of it and know where all the notes are). Write in notes/helpful hints it you need to.)
4) Ninja: measures 1-30 beautiful and up to tempo. Have the rest of the piece in your fingers (ok if not up to tempo, but make sure you look at all of it and know where all the notes are). Write in notes/helpful hints it you need to.)
5) Mahler’s Mysterious March: Take a look at this and start figuring out where the notes are. Again, write anything that you need to in the music neatly. We will do some of this next time, so make sure you get to this before next week.
